Though, that's not for lack of trying because I had many arguments with Adult Me and Teen Me in my brain. My main issue stems from the romance between Eleanor and Park. Random Reasons Why I Didn't Like This Book: In fact, I am blindsided that I didn't, saddened that I can't join the Eleanor & Park Kool Kidz Fan Club and disappointed at such a disjointed reading experience. So trust me when I say I REALLY wanted to love this book. And I get it because she is a pretty awesome person and I think she is totally lovely. What reason would I have to believe otherwise? Almost all of my friends loved this book and have sworn fealty to the Goddess of Feels and Might, Rainbow Rowell. I'm just as surprised as you are, considering I just KNEW going into Eleanor & Park that I would love it, love it, love it. Should I break out in song and dance to "Baa, Baa, Black Sheep?" One lonely star. ![]()

Nina Willner paints a picture of this tragic occurrence and shares the stories of five women and how they were reunited once the wall came down. Forty Autumns is a memoir that adds to the narrative of families torn apart by the Iron Curtain. A couple of my favorite movies – Goodbye Lenin and Das Versprechen – offer treatments of this time period. ![]() In 1989, the wall came down, but until then, there were some moving stories that surrounded those who were torn apart due to the Berlin Wall. ![]() ![]() ![]() I think it’s human nature to want to know things all the time but encouraging your child to ask questions and know that they are there to learn new things will help with this one. ![]() Encouraging them to make those connections will help with forming friendships. Come up with strategies for your child to make new friends. ![]() We hope that this never happens to any child but know that it is a big concern and rightly so. Having them come with you to give the food service money might assure them that there is money there waiting for them just in case they leave their lunchbox at home. Once you’ve identified some true concerns that just might happen it’s time to talk about them and come up with strategies for them. ![]() ![]() ![]() Tell confessed that if his first arrow had missed and struck his son, he would have used the second one to shoot the tyrannical Gessler.įull of rage, Gessler arrested Tell and ordered he be locked away forever in a tower in Gessler's castle in Küssnacht. Gessler appeared in awe of Tell's skills until he noticed the second crossbow bolt hidden under Tell's clothing and demanded an explanation. Once the boy had been made to stand in place, Tell took aim with his crossbow and expertly hit the apple without harming a hair on his son's head. The test was this: to shoot an apple off his son's head. Gessler was not prepared to excuse Tell's defiance but made a show of generosity by offering him a way out of certain death – by means of an apple. ![]() Federal Pact of 1291 The apple and crossbow The following day, Gessler summoned Tell. On 18 November 1307, Tell ignored the prominently displayed hat as he walked through the village square, knowing that he was risking his life if his action was reported – which it swiftly was. This was the divisive setting against which the legend of William Tell began. Anyone walking past was obliged to bow before it as a sign of submission. One of them, Hermann Gessler, stuck a pole with his hat on it in the village square of Altdorf, Uri's capital. Threatened by this rebellion, the Habsburg bailiffs set out to persecute the local population. ![]() ![]() ![]() The obvious restraint in the action shots, combined with the rather lackluster special effects, creates a zombie infestation that feels entirely nonthreatening. Furthermore, the film, though undoubtedly well-acted and well-shot, misses the mark slightly on its most crucial element-zombies. Winter’s “Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monster,” or Seth Grahame Smith’s “Abraham Lincoln: Vampire Hunter.” That success propelled the book to a movie deal, with Natalie Portman slated to play the lead. The book found widespread commercial success, even spawning copycats like Ben H.
